Emily Milholen McCord is a highly skilled attorney with extensive experience working with corporate clients to manage tort and commercial litigation matters, develop compliance programs and provide business operations and asset protection counsel. She strategically manages the negotiation, resolution and defense of complex claims and disputes brought against corporate clients. She assists clients in the development of new business strategies to ensure best practices and legal compliance and regularly counsels clients on the creation, enhancement, implementation and assessment of compliance programs. Emily also advises corporate clients on government and internal investigations, corporate compliance and training and communication strategies related to high-profile litigation, crisis management and reputational risk matters. Prior to joining Mitchell Williams, Emily served as senior counsel for a Fortune 1 company.

Experience

  • Managed a portfolio of 250-300 tort litigation matters for Fortune 1 company.
  • Partnered with business clients on areas of risk management and led enhanced initiatives for responsible case resolution and to drive consistency in litigation strategy across regional portfolio.
  • Provided legal support for all areas of Fortune 1 company, including operations and asset protection. 
  • Partnered with clients in the development of new business strategies to ensure best practices and legal compliance.
  • Provided legal support for communication of business initiatives across the corporate enterprise.
  • Reviewed and responded to regulatory complaints from consumers involving pricing, returns and various operations issues.
  • Identified and led business remediation efforts stemming from litigation, ADA complaints, settlements and decrees.
  • Provided legal guidance for corporate communications team of including development of corporate communications strategies, day-to-day responses to crisis situations, proactive media efforts and campaigns, and digital media campaigns on all social media channels.
  • Provided legal support to events team for all corporate events, including annual shareholders’ meeting, including contracting, security and entertainment.
  • Managed team responsible for responding to all government, commercial and HIPAA-related subpoenas issued to the company.
  • Oversaw response to government-issued subpoenas, civil investigative demands and requests for information.
  • Collaborated with legal and business partners to respond to investigative subpoenas and third-party civil subpoenas.
  • Managed relationship to oversee handling of all third-party pharmacy subpoenas.
  • Supervised HIPAA team’s response to all law enforcement subpoenas and requests for information, including all DEA requests.
  • Hired and supervised outside counsel when needed to assist with subpoena and CID responses and related depositions.
  • Oversaw response to all vendor garnishments.
  • Served as Attorney Chair over LSG Steering Committee to promote associate engagement, training and volunteerism.
  • Managed team responsible for responding to all non-commercial civil and law enforcement subpoenas and requests for information issued to the company.
  • Handled all wage garnishments served on the company.
