The Waterkeeper Alliance has issued a position paper titled:
The Biden Administration’s First 100 Days – Priority Environmental Actions (December 2020) (“Paper”)
Waterkeeper describes itself as including more than 350 Waterkeeper member organizations and affiliates based in 48 countries. One of the Waterkeeper member endorsers of the Paper is the White River Waterkeeper based in Harrison, Arkansas.
The Paper presents its views as to a number of actions that it believes the Biden Administration should prioritize in regards to what it views as the most “egregious threats to our clean water and communities.” The Paper proposes as priority items:
- Revoke Certain Trump Environmental Executive Orders which include:
- Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs
- Restoring the Rule of Law, Federalism, and Economic Growth by Reviewing the “Waters of the United States” Rule
- Promoting Energy Independence and Economic Growth
- Implementing an America-First Offshore Energy Strategy
- Promoting Energy Infrastructure and Economic Growth
- Issue a New Executive Order to “Restore the Clean Water Act.”
- Address Waters of the United States Definition
- Address § 401 Water Quality Certifications
- Prioritize Environmental Justice.
- Restore the National Environmental Policy Act
- Protect Public Lands and Waters from Fossil Fuel Extraction
