The Recycling Materials Association announced that the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Organization awarded $48,000 in scholarships to twenty-four college students.
Two Arkansas college students were among the awardees.
$2,000 scholarships were awarded to:
- Gabriel Short; University of Central Arkansas
- Alyssa Winner; Harding University
Both Arkansas students were sponsored by Metal Recycling Corp whose headquarters are based in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The awards apply toward tuition at any accredited educational institution designed to meet the requirements for an academic, professional, or occupational degree for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Recycling Materials Association represents more than 1,700 companies in the United States and forty companies around the world and the described mission is to:
… promote safe, environmentally responsible, and economically sustainable recycling through advocacy, networking, and education.
The Gulf Coast Chapter consists of the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kansas, and most of Mexico.
The Gulf Coast’s Scholarship Program is stated to operate under the auspices of the William A. Bushman Memorial Scholarship fund. Funds are raised for the scholarship program through an annual golf tournament and direct donation.
