Andrew Riggs (“Plaintiff”) filed an April 24th Complaint in the Faulkner County, Arkansas Circuit Court alleging personal injuries when to what is described as a 21700 lithium-ion battery exploded. See 23CV-25-965.
The Complaint was filed against the following entities:
- Vape City Arkansas LLC (“Vape City”).
- Becara, LLC d/b/a Hohm Tech (“Becara”).
Vape City is described as a business selling goods in Conway, Arkansas. Becara is described as a lithium-ion battery manufacturer.
The Plaintiff is alleged to have purchased a lithium-ion battery from Vape City on November 25, 2024. Becara is alleged to have designed, tested, manufactured, distributed, and/or sold the purchased battery.
The Complaint further alleges that on December 19, 2024, the Plaintiff placed the battery in his pocket and it exploded causing various described bodily injuries.
The counts in the Complaint include:
- Negligence.
- Strict liability.
The Plaintiff requests damages in excess of $75,000.00 along with punitive damages.
