The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (“ADEM”) and Sanmina Corporation (“SC”) entered into a Consent Order (“CO”) addressing alleged violations of the Alabama Hazardous Waste Regulations. See Consent Order No. 24-XXX-CHW.
The CO provides that SC operates a circuit board manufacturing and assembly facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
The facility holds an EPA identification number and is classified as a large quantity generator of hazardous waste.
ADEM is stated to have conducted a Compliance Evaluation Inspection (“CEI”) of the facility on July 17, 2024. The CEI and a review of the facility’s compliance is stated to have indicated the following:
- Storage of hazardous waste in the central accumulation area for more than 90 days without receiving a permit or being granted an extension.
- Failure to provide for review, documentation that the facility had developed a Quick Reference Guide and that a copy of the Quick Reference Guide had been sent to all local emergency responders.
SC neither admits nor denies ADEM’s contentions.
The CO assesses a civil penalty of $8,920.00.
A copy of the CO can be downloaded here.
