The American Chemistry Council (“ACC”) issued a March 2018 document titled:
Guidelines for Diisocyanate Storage Tank Systems (“Guidelines”)
The ACC document states that the guidelines were developed:
. . . to describe possible equipment options for storage tank systems intended for diisocyanate product service, specifically Monomeric Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate (MMDI), Polymeric Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate (PMDI) and Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI).
Equipment components or issues addressed in the Guidelines include:
- Impervious Spill Containment
- Equipment Material Used for Construction
- Tanks: General
- Pressure/Vacuum Rating
- Dry air or Nitrogen Pad
- Venting
- Pressure/Vacuum Protection
- Level Indicator
- Level Alarms
- High-Level Switch
- Temperature Control
- Agitation Re-circulation
- Transfer Pump
- Piping
- Gasket
- Filters/Strainers
