The American Public Power Association (“APPA”) announced in a March 31st news release that 118 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities earned the Reliable Public Power Provider designation for providing reliable and safe electric service.
Arkansas-based public power utility Conway Corporation earned the Diamond Level designation.
The Diamond Level designation is the highest followed by Platinum and Gold.
The APPA states that the Reliable Public Power Provider designation lasts for three years and recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in the following four disciplines:
- Reliability.
- Safety.
- Workforce development.
- System improvement.
The criteria applied are stated to include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.
The APPA describes itself as the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 54 million people in nearly 2,000 towns and cities nationwide.
Conway Corporation operates the city-owned electric, water, wastewater, cable television, internet, telephone, and home security utility services for the citizens of Conway, Arkansas.
