The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) issued a news release announcing that Ms. Stacie Wassell received the Association of Clean Water Administrators (“ACWA”) President’s Service Award (“Award”).
Ms. Wassell serves as the Deputy Director of ADEQ’s Office of Water Quality.
ACWA states that the President’s Service Awards is presented to Association members for:
… exceptional services to the Association for the last fiscal year.
ACWA is the national voice of state and interstate water programs. The organization described itself as a national, nonpartisan professional organization whose members are the state, interstate, and territorial officials responsible for the implementation of surface water protection programs throughout the nation.
The ADEQ news release notes that Ms. Wassell is the first Arkansan ever honored with this Award. She was recognized for:
… her exceptional service to ACWA, her leadership, her unwavering support of national clean water initiatives, and her willingness to share her expertise whenever and wherever it’s needed.
The Award was presented to her at ACWA’s Annual Meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Ms. Wassell’s prior positions at ADEQ include:
- Interim Associate Director of Water Quality.
- Deputy Associate Director – Office of Water Quality.
- Attorney Specialist – Office of Legal Services.
Her educational background includes:
- B.S. in Biology – University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
- M.S. in Biology – University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
- J.D. from University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law.
