Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ’) Associate Director (Office of Air Quality) William ("Will") Montgomery is joining Wal-Mart Corporation.
Wal-Mart has hired Will to be Director, Strategic Initiatives – Corporate Affairs – Sustainability (Climate).
Will has served as Associate Director at DEQ from 2020 to the present. Prior to that he served as DEQ’s Policy & Planning Branch Manager in the Office of Air Quality from 2016 to 2020. Additional DEQ positions included Policy Advisor in the Office of Air Quality and as an Attorney in the Legal Division.

- Member of the Arkansas Bar Association
- Member of the Environmental Law Section of the Arkansas Bar Association
- Vice Chair of the Board of the Central State Air Resources Agencies
- Co-Chair of the Energy Subcommittee of the Association of Air Pollution Control Agencies

- Juris Doctor – University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law
The Wal-Mart Director, Sustainability (Climate) is involved in the company’s efforts to deliver zero emissions by 2040 by reductions of emissions throughout the organization’s operations and supply chain. Responsibilities include collaboration with company business owners, suppliers and external influencers in implementing the company’s climate strategy through strategic initiative efforts.
