The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (“E&E”) issued a May 5th news release stating that Alan York has been selected for the following positions:
- Director of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission (“OGC”)
- Chief Administrator of Energy for E&E
OGC describes its mission as providing “a scientific and technically-based regulatory framework to support economic development while respecting the environment and Arkansas’s natural resources – its fresh air, abundant water, and varying landscapes”.
E&E Secretary Shane Khoury is quoted as stating regarding Alan’s appointment:
…I am proud to work with Alan in his new roles as Director of the Oil and Gas Commission and Chief Administrator of Energy. Alan is uniquely qualified for these roles because of his vast experience and expertise. He is dedicated to the Department of Energy and Environment’s goals of preventing waste, encouraging conservation of oil, natural gas, and brine resources, protecting the environment, and fostering economic and resource growth…
The E&E news release notes that Alan has “served E&E and its constituent agencies since 2007.” Positions have included:
- E&E Director of Operations
- Associate Director of the Division of Environmental Quality, Office of Water Quality
- Assistant General Counsel, Oil and Gas Commission
The news release further notes that Alan participated in the:
…creation and utilization of significant oil and gas regulations that aided in the orderly and efficient development of oil and gas resources in Arkansas, namely the Fayetteville Shale play.
Alan’s educational background includes:
- Juris Doctorate from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law.
- Bachelor of Science in Economics from Clemson University.
