The American Water Works Association (“AWWA”) announced the winners from water tasting competitions across North America at its Annual Conference and Exposition in Washington, D.C.
City Corporation of Russellville, Arkansas was named the winner of the People’s Choice Water Taste Test.
The City of Fredericton in New Brunswick, Canada won the Best of the Best Water Taste Test.
The AWWA news release notes that City Corporation’s water originates from the Huckleberry Creek Reservoir, which was constructed in 1997 to replace the previous intake. It is stated to have a capacity 5.8 billion gallons, and is capable of supplying up to 40 million gallons daily for future growth. Swimming and motorized boating are not permitted on the lake, and City Corporation works closely with Arkansas Game & Fish to maintain the land and reservoir.
City Corporation is a non-profit organization that provides water and wastewater treatment services to the City of Russellville, Arkansas and its surrounding communities. Its programs include producing and distributing water as well as treating wastewater.
AWWA describes its organization as the largest non-profit, scientific and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water, with approximately 50,000 members.
