2027 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Model Plan: Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment Publishes Response to Comments

The Arkansas Energy Office (“AEO”) of the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment published comments received for its 2027 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (“LIHEAP”) Model Plan.
The AEO document provides responses to all comments received by August 12th.
The Arkansas LIHEAP Model Plan provides federally funded utility and heating/cooling assistance through the AEO and local community-based organizations.
The program is administered across all 75 Arkansas counties via a local network of community action agencies.
The LIHEAP Model Plan has certain eligibility and income limits. Further, various documents are required to apply.
The comments and AEO’s responses address:
- ADVANCING START DATES FOR HEATING AND WINTER CRISIS ASSISTANCE.
- ALIGNING WITH OTHER ARKANSAS UTILITY WINTER DATES.
- PREVENTING UNMANAGEABLE ARREARAGES.
- CONSISTENCY WITH REGIONAL PROGRAM AVAILABILITY.
- UPDATING BENEFIT LEVELS FOR HEATING AND CRISIS ASSISTANCE.
- REGIONAL AVERAGES.
- ARKANSAS FALLS BELOW REGIONAL BENCHMARKS.
