The Mississippi Commission on Environmental Quality (“MCEQ”) and Southern Natural Gas Company LLC (“Southern”) entered into a March 9th Agreed Order (“AO”) addressing an alleged violation of an air permit. See Agreed Order No. 7672 26.
The AO provides that Southern operates a natural gas compressor station in New Heron, Mississippi.
The compressor station operates pursuant to a Title V Operating Permit.
The AO provides that the compressor station failed to limit the concentration of Formaldehyde to 91 parts per billion by volume, dry basis (ppbvd) or less at 15-percent O2 during a performance test of Emission Point AA-013 on August 6, 2025. The compressor station is stated to have subsequently demonstrated compliance with the limits during a retest on August 8, 2025.
The AO assesses a civil penalty of $22,500.
A copy of the AO can be found here.
