104(g) National Competitive Grants: Arkansas Water Resources Center Announces USGS Request for Proposals

The Arkansas Water Resources Center (“AWRC”) announced on August 18th that the U.S. Geological Survey (“USGS”) has released the request for proposals for the FY2025 104(g) National Competitive Grants Programs.
AWRC states that investigators at any Arkansas institution of higher learning may apply.
Grant Awards are Applications are stated to be up to $309,000 - $346,875 over three years.
The applications are stated to be required to be submitted through the AWRC. The AWRC is described as Arkansas's Water Resources Research Institute. In addition, the organization states that collaboration with USGS scientists is “strongly encouraged.”
The AWRC publication lists as Grant opportunities:
- 104(g) General.
- 104(g) Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).
- 104(g) Aquatic Invasive Species (limited to Upper Mississippi River Basin projects).
Additional points listed regarding submission for requests for proposals include:
- The AWRC must receive completed proposal packages by September 16, 2025, to ensure proposals are submitted on time.
- An informational webinar to learn about the proposal process, connect with other researchers and USGS staff scientists, and ask questions will be held on August 21.
