The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) issued a news release titled:
100 Days, 100 Environmental Accomplishments.
The news release stated that the Trump Administration has:
…wasted no time delivering results to protect our environment.
EPA then cites what it describes as “100 Environmental Accomplishments” achieved in the first 100 days.
Number 4 on the EPA list is identified as:
4. Finalized Arkansas 2022 Section 303(d) list assessing statewide water quality.
As described in an April 7th Blog Post, the Region 6 of EPA sent a March 27th letter to the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment – Division of Environmental Quality stating that it is:
…taking action to approve all waterbodies identified by Arkansas as impaired on the Section 303(d) list.
In a May 2nd Arkansas Energy and Environment news release, Secretary Shane Khoury is quoted as stating:
…The quality of Arkansas’ waters is vital to our state’s ecological integrity and the well-being of our communities. The 2022 Section 303(d) list is a crucial tool in our long-term efforts to protect this precious resource. It allows us to identify impairments and develop strategies that will ensure the quality of our waterways for generations to come… Arkansas’ comprehensive assessment of water quality is fundamental to sound environmental stewardship and allows us to move forward with precision, ensuring that our efforts are focused where they are needed most to achieve meaningful and lasting improvements.
