Attorney Derrick Smith: Usually the questions that we hear boil down to really two things: One, can I do this? And two, how long will it take? Like all good advisory practices, it's not enough just to know the law, what the law says or even what it's intended to mean. It's most important to understand your client's needs and what goals they're trying to achieve. With that, you match it up with the law, and you help them achieve their goals, but stay in compliance.
It's easy to see the entities we represent as simple as corporations or non-descript entities, but they're all made up of people, and you never know how important a question or an issue is to an individual person. But you know it's important to someone. When you're able to solve a problem and you see a person’s relief after solving that, or excitement or whatever the emotion is, that's a win.
