Mitchell Williams Awards Inaugural John S. Selig Award to Tracey Stark

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard P.L.L.C., is pleased to announce the inaugural recipient of the John S. Selig Service Award. The award honors named partner John S. Selig and his passion for ensuring the firm's mission of giving back to the community. Each year it will be presented to the employee with the highest number of community service hours as part of Mitchell Williams’ Take Time to Give program. The inaugural award recipient for 2018 is Tracey Stark, assistant in the business practice group.

Throughout 2018, Stark performed the most volunteer hours by donating her time to Camp Aldersgate. During her volunteer time, she spearheaded a mailbox building campaign and participated in the camp’s annual fishing derby.

The Take Time to Give program was established in 2004 under Selig's leadership as managing partner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the firm’s founding and set a standard for corporate responsibility and service in the community, a culture established by the firm’s named partner Maurice Mitchell. The program asked every person in the firm to donate 50 hours of their time to give back to the community. During 2004, members of the firm donated a total of 8,270 hours of service.

In honor of the firm’s 55-year anniversary in 2009, the firm decided to again celebrate its milestone through a community service initiative. It began choosing a “primary” Take Time to Give nonprofit annually to receive a $25,000 donation, special volunteer hour commitments, pro bono legal services and exposure in firm marketing materials and advertisements for a year. That yearly contribution has since increased to a $50,000 donation. In addition to the primary charity, the firm also supports over 100 charitable and community organizations throughout the year through sponsorships, financial contributions, leadership and volunteer service.
