(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) — Attorney Jeff McWhirt has been accepted to the Federation of Regulatory Counsel (FORC), a professional association of insurance regulatory lawyers formed in 1988 for the purpose of raising the standard of excellence in the practice of regulatory law. Earning membership into FORC requires years of experience in insurance regulatory law, recommendations from many insurance industry leaders and a rigorous vetting by insurance industry experts.
McWhirt concentrates his practice in insurance law and regulation, including excess and surplus lines. Drawing on his experience as a former deputy chief compliance officer for an international specialty insurance broker, McWhirt delivers practical guidance to clients navigating complex regulatory landscapes. He advises insurance agents, brokers, managing underwriters, surplus lines brokers and carriers on nationwide legal, regulatory and compliance issues. McWhirt routinely works with state departments of insurance, regulators, and investigators, conducts regulatory due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and manages acquisitions involving insurance agents and brokers. He also supports intermediaries and companies with licensing, compensation disclosures, carrier-producer agreements, risk purchasing groups and master policies.
Recognized as a specialist in regulatory, compliance and privacy matters, McWhirt actively participates in industry organizations such as WSIA, CIAB, SILA, Surplus Lines Associations and NAIC. He teaches advanced courses for WSIA and SILA, regularly presents at compliance conferences and shares his insights on the challenges of regulatory compliance in producer mergers and acquisitions within surplus lines.
McWhirt holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Northwest Missouri State University.
