Letters of Credit

At Mitchell Williams, our commercial lending attorneys and municipal finance attorneys have experience in assisting banks with issuing letters of credit as security for public and private placements of taxable and tax-exempt bonds.  At times, letters of credit transactions require additional support from the skilled lawyers on our banking and public finance teams. Leveraging experience of these groups ensures that we are able to structure the letter of credit transaction and prepare the required documents, including the letter of credit, reimbursement agreement, credit note, and the collateral security documents to secure the letter of credit.  We also have experience working with the Federal Home Loan Bank for issuance in which a confirming letter of credit is necessary to the transaction.  Our practice teams have expertise needed to customize letter of credit documents to meet the public finance requirements of the indenture and other documents prepared by bond counsel.
