The Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy of the House Energy and Commerce Committee (“Committee”) held an October 27th hearing titled E-manifest: An Update on Implementation (“Hearing”).
The focus of the Hearing was the status of the Environmental Protection Agency’s implementation of the Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest Establishment Act (“Act”) which required that the agency promulgate a final rule authorizing the use of electronic manifest to meet the requirements of Section 3002 of the Solid Waste Disposal Act.
The sole witness at the Hearing was Mr. Barnes Johnson, Director, Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery Office of Solid Waste Emergency Response of the United States Environmental Protection Agency. His testimony focuses on the current hazardous waste tracking system and the transition EPA envisions to the electronic e-manifest system.
