It is my understanding that the Northwest Arkansas E-Waste Drop Off that was held at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale (described in a previous blog item) produced results that exceeded the second year projections of the amount of e-waste collected. Preliminary figures are stated to show that the two day collection filled 24 tractor trailer rigs – stacked one Gaylord Box high. In other words, this would be the equivalent to about 12 tractor trailer rigs stacked two Gaylord Boxes high – at maximum capacity.Â
The event was sponsored by Washington County Office of Environmental Affairs, Boston Mountain Solid Waste District and the three area watersheds – Illinois River Watershed, Beaver Watershed and the White River EPA Watershed.Â
The e-waste will be transported to ESCO of Rogers, Arkansas. The event was open to both the public and businesses and was the second such event. The first event collected 22 tractor trailer rigs in the spring of 2010.
