MITCHELL WILLIAMS GRANTS SCHOLARSHIPS TO TOP LAW STUDENTS

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Oct. 29, 2008) Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C., a full-service law firm with offices in Little Rock and Rogers, Ark. and Austin, Texas, today awarded law students Kristin Bryant and William Buckley, III the 2008 Mitchell Williams Scholarship at an annual award lunch in Little Rock.

Presented annually to the Chairman of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) William H. Bowen School of Law Moot Court Board, and University of Arkansas (UA) School of Law at Fayetteville Chairman of the Board of Advocates, each student received a scholarship award in the amount of $2,000. Mitchell Williams Managing Director Harry Hamlin presented the awards to the honorees.

UALR Moot Court Chair Bryant leads the board by organizing training for inter-school competitions and intramural competitions, presides over all moot court activities and meetings, and recruits faculty members for the Moot Court committee. The chairman of the Moot Court Board is nominated by the outgoing student board and then elected by the incoming board.

Bryant is expected to graduate in May. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in May 2006 from Texas Christian University in Texas.

Buckley chairs the UA Board of Advocates. The chairman’s role is the overall management of the fall and spring appellate moot court competition, negotiations competition, client counseling competition and trial competition. Chairman and members of the board are chosen by the outgoing board, with the chair being chosen by a group within the Board of Advocates.

Buckley is expected to graduate in May as well. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in May 2006 from Xavier University in Ohio.
