Professional Experience

Represents companies in a variety of litigation matters, including employment and contract matters, and class actions.  Represents employers in litigation under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Advises employers on various labor and employment matters including hiring and termination of employees, non-competition agreements, and unemployment benefit matters.  Handles litigation under ERISA related to employee benefit claims including disability and accidental death.  Represents insurance companies, manufacturing companies, and other business entities in various class action lawsuits in state and federal courts in Arkansas.  

Experienced in appellate matters in Arkansas and with the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Involvement in Significant and Noteworthy Cases

Bissada v. Arkansas Children’s Hospital, et al, 639 F.3d 825 (8th Cir. 2011) (physician alleging discrimination based on his Egyptian Copt decent; summary judgment in favor of Arkansas Children’s Hospital). 

Rubber & Gasket Company of America, Inc. v. Zimmerman, 2011 Ark. App. 273, 2011 WL 1425032 (April 13, 2011) (reversal of State circuit court summary judgment in favor of former executive vice president in lawsuit alleging breach of post-termination agreement). 

Julia Carole Gunn v. Farmers Insurance Exchange, 2010 Ark. 434, 2010 WL 4518012 (Nov. 11, 2010) (summary judgment in favor of Farmers in multi-count complaint related to termination of agency contract). 

Davis v. Jefferson Hospital Association, 5:09-CV-58-DPM (E.D. Ark 2010) (summary judgment for defendants in race discrimination and retaliation case). 

Rogers v. Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., 409 Fed.Appx. 55  (8th Cir. 2010) (summary judgment in favor of defendants in § 301 hybrid lawsuit against employer and union). 

Harper v. Jefferson Hospital Association and Mabry, 5:10-cv-00052-JMM, 2011 WL 2160558  (E.D. Ark., June 1, 2011) (summary judgment in favor of physician in retaliation matter).
