Governmental Affairs & Lobbying

Mitchell Williams’ Governmental Affairs & Lobbying Team maintains an extensive state governmental operations practice, including drafting and monitoring legislation, executive actions and administrative rules and regulations.

Our clients include various industry groups, trade associations, ad hoc coalitions and individual companies in the areas of insurance, banking, the environment, health care, utilities, telecommunications, general business and freedom of information.

Thirteen of our attorneys are registered as lobbyists on behalf of more than 100 clients. Our lawyers are also licensed in the District of Columbia and have assisted clients with respect to the drafting of federal legislation and providing testimony before congressional hearings regarding legislation on congressional investigations. In addition, we have assisted clients with matters pending before federal regulatory bodies.

Team members regularly draft, monitor and comment on various legislation and administrative regulations.

Mitchell Williams’ lawyers were the sole drafters of the Arkansas Comprehensive Health Insurance Program which developed as the state’s alternative to insurance market reforms; the Civil Justice Reform Act of 2003 which reformed Arkansas’ tort laws and the Insurance Reform Act of 2005; and were active in drafting the Arkansas Banking Code of 1997.
