The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) announced it is accepting nominations for two environmental awards.
The awards are:
- Environmental Stewardship (“ENVY”) Award
- Arkansas Environmental Technology (“AETA”) Award
The ENVY award has been awarded annually by ADEQ for the past several years. However, the AETA is a new award.
ADEQ describes the new AETA award as recognizing:
… new or innovative use of technology that broke ground in protecting resources or improving the environment. This award will recognize new or unique programs or activities that utilize technological development or implementation that go beyond traditional environmental control measures, approaches, or outcomes for Arkansas.
The ENVY award honors a major contribution by an individual or organization involving environmental stewardship activities in Arkansas. The City of Fayetteville won the award last year for its “Recycle Something” program. Other previous ENVY award winners include:
- Dassault Falcon Jet’s Little Rock, Arkansas facility
- Jonesboro, Arkansas Frito Lay facility
- McKee Foods Corporation, Gentry, Arkansas facility
- Little Rock Wastewater utility
ADEQ will accept nominations through February 22nd for both awards.
