The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (“ANRC”) is proposing to revise its rules governing Conservation District operations (“Draft Rules”).
The rules governing conservation districts are referenced as Title 2 of ANRC’s rules.
The Title 2 rules provide general operating requirements for districts created under the Arkansas Conservation District Law. See Ark. Code Ann. § 14-125-101, et seq.
Arkansas’ conservation districts are governed by a board of five volunteers serving in an elected or appointed positions. The ANRC assists the districts with implementation of conservation programs along with funding of the districts.
The Draft Rules:
- Create a Conservation District Directors Emeritus Program
- Clarify election responsibilities of district directors during district elections
- Increase voter participation by allowing early voting in district elections
- Streamline district operating procedures and reflect current funding procedures
ANRC will hold a public hearing on the Draft Rules on February 18th at the agency’s headquarters at 101 East Capitol, Suite 350 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The hearing will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The Draft Rules can be found at http://www.anrc.arkansas.gov/.
