The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (“ANC”) has scheduled a Commission meeting for May 18th.
The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at ANRC headquarters at 101 East Capitol Avenue, Suite 350 in Little Rock.
ANRC describes its purpose as the establishment of policy and the making of funding and regulatory decisions relative to soil conservation, nutrient management, water rights, dam safety and water resources planning and development. The agency is composed of nine members appointed by the Governor who serve staggered seven-year terms on office. Each of Arkansas’s four congressional districts is represented by two Commissioners with the ninth Commissioner holding an at-large position.
Besides the initial procedural items, the May 18th agenda includes the following items:
- Administration – Randy Young – Executive Director
- Executive Director’s Report
- Legal Issues
- Water Resources Development Division – Mark Bennett – Water Development Division Manager
- Consideration of Applications for Financial Assistance
- Consideration of Applications for Additional Funding
- Status Report of Project Bids
- Conservation/Information Division – Adrian Baber – Conservation Division Chief
- Water Resources Management Division – Edward Swaim – Water Resources Division Manager
The final agenda item is Activity Reports, which include:
- Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts
- University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service
- USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
- US Geological Survey
- United States Corps of Engineers
