Heinz Braun, Air Compliance Branch Manager, Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) Office of Air Quality undertook a presentation at the April 12th Arkansas Environmental Federation Air Workshop.
The presentation addressed a variety of compliance activities undertaken by the Compliance Monitoring Branch.
2015 statistics provided included:
- Title V Major Facilities – 206
- Synthetic Minors – 587
- Number of full compliance evaluations – 629
- Number of stack tests observed – 397
- Number of stack tests reviewed and observed – 422
- Annual Compliance Certification review – 122
- Enforcement referral – 44
The presentation also included the geographic location and identity of the various Air Compliance Branch inspectors and their supervisors. In addition, the inspectors’ activities were reviewed .
Mr. Braun also undertook a detailed review of the inspection process which included:
- Prepare for Inspection
- Perform Inspection
- Data Review
- Write inspection report and letter
- Reviews responses from facility
- Attends Enforcement review meetings
The role of the supervisor in the inspection process was also addressed along with the administrative analysis.
Areas of concern discussed included:
- Facility receives “30 day letter” indicating areas of concern
- Provide responses, if you need extension request it.
- Inspector and Supervisor review responses
- Supervisor places it on agenda for the Enforcement review meeting
Finally, the components of the Enforcement review meeting were addressed.
